The rope-swing auction
Early in 2020 when the world was normal I drew this scene of “the rope-swing” in Arrowtown. If you’re fortunate enough to live in Arrowtown or you holiday here chances are you’ve seen an orderly queue of children waiting for their turn on the swing. If you have children under 10, it’s likely this is the very corner of the arrow river where you spend most of your summer.
I had originally drawn this for the Arrowtown autumn festival, however like most events in 2020 the festival was cancelled due to Covid-19. Rather than leave this drawing in a box for next year, this drawing is being auctioned on trademe with all money from the sale going to the child cancer foundation.
Update: The drawing has been sold for $400 and it has unofficially found a permanent home in the fork and tap in Arrowtown

The drawing is predominantly in coloured pencil on A3 paper and is framed. I don’t sell much of my art, so this is a rare opportunity to get a “Dougal MacPherson original”
The art is hanging at the fork and tap in Arrowtown until the auction finishes on 16th August 2020.
